At Home with Charlotte Rey

Charlotte Rey is an award-winning Swedish designer and one half of Campbell-Rey, a London design studio she founded with Duncan Campbell in 2014. Charlotte studied Fashion History and Theory at Central Saint Martins, before working for Acne Studios, becoming the co-editor of its cult culture publication Acne Paper. Campbell-Rey works fluently between residential and commercial interior design, furniture and product design, and their world is a celebration of conviviality, colour and craftsmanship.

Where did you grow up and where are you now?

In southern Sweden, now London.

What does an average day at Campbell-Rey look like for you?

We don’t have average days! (laughter) We generally have 6-8 projects on the go at any time that varies from interior projects to furniture to design collaborations. So often we work on our designs, we speak to producers and partners, have meetings with clients and on site to check on progress.

How would you describe your design style?

Joyful, playful, colourful and sensual.

What’s your favourite corner in your home and how do you use it?

My bedroom and I often work from my bed.

What is your favourite museum and why do you love it?

Louisiana outside Copenhagen. It’s the perfect combination of a home, sensitive architecture to host an art collection, and a museum.

Do you have any daily self-care rituals you can’t miss?

Green tea.

How do you connect with nature - what’s your favourite place and what fragrance do you associate with it?

I am in nature as often as I can be. At the moment I am spending a lot of time in Marrakesh as my fiancé lives there and I am so taken in by the orange blossom that is everywhere there.

What are your key fragrance memories?

We had a big lilac tree outside my house growing up and the scent of them always tells me it’s spring.

What’s your favourite VERDEN fragrance?

Herbanum – it’s gentle but joyful.
