No. VERDEN is owned by our two co-founders Arabella Preston and Charlotte Semler who are committed to never testing on animals.

Yes, we do sell in China. China have recently lifted their requirements on animal testing which has allowed us to enter the market. We do not sell in any country where animal testing is required. We would never compromise our cruelty free and vegan values. If/when regulations on imported products changes, and animal testing is no longer a requirement, we adapt accordingly - as we have done in the case of China.

All of our outer paper and card packaging is recyclable.
Our boxes are made from recycled card. The corrugated liner for the candle box is not currently made from recycled board but it is fully recyclable.
Our box manufacturers are FSC certified. Our board supplier plants three or four trees for every tree used. This means that the number of trees in forests is always increasing. Individual trees disappear in production, but new ones are always replacing them.
A biomass-fuelled combined heat and power plant is used for paperboard production, with the aim of radically reducing the mill’s fossil energy usage, and thereby cutting its carbon dioxide emissions from fossil sources.

VERDEN Hand and Body Wash and Hand and Body Balm bottles are 100% post consumer recycled bottles and 100% recyclable.
Our plastic pumps are currently not recyclable. Refill options are available with recyclable disc top caps.

VERDEN Candles jars are 100% recyclable and are made from 1% post consumer recycled glass.
VERDEN Bath Oil bottles are 100% recyclable glass. The Bath Oil cap is recyclable.

Our products are packed with recyclable shredded paper or Eco Flo loose foam chips which are made from 100% genetically modified-free starch. They are 100% biodegradable, fully compostable, low energy and they dissolve in water. They are manufactured from annually renewable sources.
VERDEN gift bags and tissue paper are fully recyclable.

100% of our manufacture, and 90% of our supply chain is within the UK. This is a strategic sourcing decision taken by the company in order to reduce emissions through transportation.

Through this position we are also able to support local small-medium businesses. Our fragrance blends for example are produced by a small family owned manufacturer.

VERDEN body products are carefully formulated to match the pH of your skin.
VERDEN Hand and Body Wash has a pH of 5.0-5.5.
VERDEN Hand and Body Balm has a pH of 5.0-5.5.

VERDEN products are free from parabens and free from SLS, ALS and SLES.

Palm oil derivatives are present within some ingredients used in the Balms and one ingredient used in the Wash. Every ingredient we use is RSPO certified. We continue to work with all our suppliers to source only the most environmentally responsible ingredients in keeping with our vegan and cruelty-free status.

VERDEN Bath Oils are not suitable for use in pregnancy. All VERDEN products contain 3% or less of essential oils. Some women prefer to avoid essential oils and fragrance completely during pregnancy. We always recommend checking with your health practitioner.

VERDEN products are not organic.

VERDEN roots itself in natural fragrance. Our products contain natural essential oils.

VERDEN products contain ingredients derived from coconut.
VERDEN products do not contain any other nut ingredients.
However, VERDEN products are bottled in facilities which handle other products which may contain nut allergens.

All VERDEN Balms may contain gluten as the oat extract used may contain gluten.
VERDEN Washes and Bath Oils are gluten free and suitable for coeliacs.

All skins are different and we suggest patch testing on a small area of your body over several days to see how your skin reacts. If you buy a VERDEN product and it does not suit your skin, you can return it to us within 28 days for a full refund. (*We do not refund the cost of postage.)

We recommend keeping VERDEN products out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

VERDEN products last for 12 months after opening.

Not at all. Natural raw ingredients can vary greatly in colour and fragrance. We make all our products in small, fresh batches. This means that there can sometimes be slight differences in colour and fragrance which is in keeping with their natural origins.
